G’day!
This week marks my fifth week at the helm of SCA (Qld) and at the outset I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone in the strata community for your warm welcome. You have all truly put the community into Strata Community.
I have certainly hit the ground running and together with the SCA (Qld) team, Board and our dedicated committee volunteers, we have had an incredibly busy month across all portfolios.
Advocacy
Our advocacy team have been active in the media and developing submissions to government on behalf of the sector – with a couple of notable wins, particularly in respect of BUGTA reform. If you haven’t already reviewed our Advocacy Update that was sent out earlier this week, I strongly encourage you to do so.
Events
The events team are putting the final touches on the upcoming Leadership Retreat coming up in Hobart. The focus of this year’s forum is Hybrid Working and how we lead our teams through this. Given the current state of the pandemic (there are two significant covid peaks expected imminently in Queensland), hybrid working appears to be here to stay. To maintain business momentum and staff wellbeing during these times is going to become increasingly challenging. This retreat is built around supporting the sector to navigate through this and thrive!
On a personal note, I am looking forward to the retreat and working with the team from Phuel and my strata leader colleagues to develop strategies to support my team here at SCA (Qld) and the sector broadly. I hope to see you there!
You can learn more about the Leadership Retreat here: SCA (Qld) Events - Leadership Retreat.
In addition to the Leadership Retreat, there is the Golf Day coming up in August and a vast array of educational events and webinars for you all to enjoy and gain CPD points. You can find out more here: SCA (Qld) Events
Membership Renewals
We recently sent out our Membership Renewals and again ‘thank you’ to everyone who has renewed so far. We are grateful for your continued support, and I sincerely hope to meet you all at an event or forum this year.
If you haven’t renewed yet, there’s still time to renew and enjoy all the benefits of an SCA (Qld) membership. And of course, our Membership Team are always happy to assist you with any queries you may have.
Cheers!
Laura
