As the year draws to a close, it is both a pleasure and a privilege to connect with our members once again. Reflecting on 2024, and our Vision “A Thriving Strata Sector“ we have so much to celebrate as an organisation. We certainly are advancing the strata sector in Queensland. I want to start by extending my gratitude to my colleagues on the Board for the trust they have placed in me by appointing me as a Director, and re-electing me as President. It is a tremendous honour to serve in this capacity, and I am both humbled and proud to continue leading within our vibrant sector. To all our members, I commend you for your unwavering commitment and hard work throughout the year. Strata is a truly unique sector, and the camaraderie we share is one of its most rewarding aspects. Your dedication and passion are what drive our industry forward, and I thank each of you for the contributions you have made in 2024. I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable efforts of the SCAQ Board. To my colleagues who have been re-elected for another term or are continuing their service — your voluntary dedication to our organisation is deeply appreciated. A special welcome to George Salloum, our new Senior Vice-President, and my sincerest thanks to life member and former President Simon Barnard for stepping into the role of Vice-President. We are also fortunate to welcome new faces to the Board, including Sarah Price and Cameron Griffiths, alongside industry pioneer Michael Hurley. Their fresh perspectives, combined with the continued contributions of Duncan Lee, Cath Pashley, Sue Cubbin and Adam Stankevicius, provide a powerful blend of renewal and experience. This dynamic team positions us well to navigate the rapid changes shaping both our industry and the broader world. |
To all of our volunteers, a big thank you for your commitment to elevating professionalism, amplifying the voice of strata and enhancing capability. Also a thank you to our retiring Board Members Kristi Kinast, Jess Cannon, Andrew Suttie and National representative Jason Carlson, your contributions have been stellar. I would be remiss not to recognise the incredible efforts of the SCAQ staff, led by our General Manager, Laura Bos. This has been a transformative year for our team, marked by significant growth within our organisation and a host of challenges in the sector. Your resilience, adaptability, and unwavering support have been pivotal to our success. The relationships that you have developed and nurtured, in particular with government, ensure that we are the credible voice for Strata. The work that we have done on strategy and governance has raised the bar and is setting the standard for leadership within the sector. As we look ahead, I am confident that 2025 will bring even greater opportunities for a thriving SCAQ and for a thriving strata sector as a whole. On behalf of the Board, I wish everyone a joyous and restful festive season. Merry Christmas, and here’s to another year of collaboration, achievement, and progress. Andrew Davidson SCAQ President |
